Whirlwind

These past few weeks...Philippines was in great shock, awe, despair...Well Tita Cory's adieu to the Filipino People still marks a bitter part of our history...

Mar Roxas suddenly backs off from running for the Presidential office to give way to Noynoy Aquino...The latter's "decision" to run for Presidency was "due" to the "public demand" and the promise that he sworn to his mother (Pres. Cory Aquino) to continue his parents' advocacy for the Filipino.

A part of me says "Was he pushed into a situation where he was forced to do because of campaigns by people (follwers slash danatic)?" My friends believe that "bugso lang yan ng publisidad ng pagkamatay ng kanilang ina". But I also respect a promise laid by an obedient son to a mother. (Tsk)

Well, I was just sad for Mar Roxas's backing out from the race...I think he already had apent large amount and effort only to know he's not running anymore. But whatever the decision of their party, I just pray that the people will only choose the best opbjectively and not subjectively.

Slumdog Millionaire...when i saw the reaction on Noah's face, i knew it was so damn good movie

(from wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Set in 2006, the film opens with a police inspector (Irrfan Khan) in Mumbai, India, interrogating and torturing Jamal Malik (Dev Patel), a former street child from the Dharavi slums. In the opening scene, a title card is presented: "Jamal Malik is one question away from winning 20 million rupees. How did he do it? A) He cheated, B) He's lucky, C) He's a genius, D) It is written (which could mean either the show is predetermined by destiny or that the show is scripted)." At the end of the film, the answer is given. Jamal is a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (Kaun Banega Crorepati) hosted by Prem Kumar (Anil Kapoor) in which he was on the show and won 5,000,000 rupees. Jamal has made it to the final question, scheduled for the next day, but the police are now accusing him of cheating, because the other possibilities, that he has a vast knowledge, or that he is very lucky, both seem unlikely.

Jamal then explains that, while at least the question about Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was very simple, he knew the answers of most questions by chance, because of things that happened in his life. This is conveyed in a series of flashbacks documenting the particulars of his childhood. This includes scenes of him obtaining Bachchan's autograph, the death of his mother during the Hindu anti-Muslim violence, rekindling the memory of the 1993 anti-Muslim attacks in Mumbai by Hindu nationalists in the slums,[7] and how he and his brother Salim befriend Latika (Freida Pinto) (he refers to Salim and himself as Athos and Porthos, and Latika as the third Musketeer.)

The children are eventually discovered by Maman (Ankur Vikal) while they live in the trash heaps. Maman is a gangster (a fact they do not actually know at the time they meet him) who "collects" street children so that he can ultimately train them to beg for money. Salim is groomed to become a part of Maman’s operation and is asked to bring Jamal to Maman in order to be blinded (which would improve his income potential as a singing beggar). Salim rebels against Maman to protect his brother, and the three children try to escape, but only Salim and Jamal are successful as Salim purposely lets go of Latika's hand as she tries to board a train they are hopping while trying to escape. Latika is re-captured by Maman's organization and raised as a culturally talented prostitute whose virginity will fetch a high price.

The brothers eke out a living, traveling on top of trains, selling goods, pretending to be tour guides at the Taj Mahal, and picking pockets. Jamal eventually insists that they return to Mumbai since he wishes to locate Latika. When he finds her working as a dancer in a brothel, the brothers attempt to rescue her, but Maman intrudes, and in the resulting conflict Salim draws a gun and kills Maman. Salim then uses the fact that he killed Maman to obtain a job with Javed (Mahesh Manjrekar), a rival crime lord. Salim claims Latika as his own and when Jamal protests, Salim threatens to kill him and Latika intervenes, accepting her fate with Salim and breaking Jamal's heart.

Years later, Jamal has a position as a "chai-wallah" (a boy or young man who serves tea) at a call centre. When he is asked to cover for a co-worker for a couple of minutes, he searches the database for Salim and Latika. He gets in touch with Salim, who has become a high-ranking lieutenant in Javed’s organization. Jamal confronts a regretful Salim on tense terms. Salim invites Jamal to live with him and, after following Salim to Javed's house, he sees Latika living there. He talks his way in as the new dishwasher and tries to convince Latika to leave. She rebuffs his advances, but he promises to be at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station every day at five p.m. for her. She tries to discourage him, but on the first day that Jamal waits there, Latika attempts to rendezvous with him, but is recaptured by Salim and Javed's men. One of the men then slashes her cheek with a knife, scarring her as Salim drives off, leaving Jamal with the onlooking crowd.

Jamal again loses contact with Latika when Javed moves to another house. In another attempt to find Latika, Jamal tries out for the popular game show because he knows that she will be watching. He makes it to the final question, despite the hostile attitude of the host who feeds Jamal a wrong answer during a break. At the end of the show, Jamal has one question left to win two crore, or 20 million rupees (£281,301, $388,275 U.S.) and is taken into police custody, where he is tortured as the police attempt to learn how Jamal, a simple "slumdog," could know the answers to so many questions. After Jamal tells his whole story, explaining how his life experiences coincidentally enabled him to know the answer to each question, the police inspector calls Jamal's explanation "bizarrely plausible" and, knowing he's not in it for the money, allows him to return to the show for the final question.

At Javed's safehouse, Latika watches the news coverage of Jamal's miraculous run on the show. Salim gives Latika his phone and the keys to his car. He urges her to run away and to "forgive him for what he has done". When Jamal uses his Phone-A-Friend lifeline to call Salim, Latika answers his phone and they reconnect. She does not know the answer to the final question either but, believing that "it is written", she tells Jamal in unsubtitled Hindi, "I'm yours" right before the phone connection is cut. Jamal guesses the correct answer (Aramis) to the question of the one Musketeer whose name they never learned, and wins the grand prize. Simultaneously, Salim is discovered to have helped Latika escape and allows himself to be killed in a bathtub full of money after shooting and killing Javed. Salim's last words are "God is great." Later that night, Jamal and Latika meet at the railway station and they share a kiss. It is then revealed that the correct answer to the opening question is: D) it is written, or implying that it is destiny. In a scene reminiscent of many Bollywood musicals, they then dance, along with dozens of bystanders and even the juvenile versions of themselves, in the train station during the end credits.

------------>

those who haven't seen the movie yet, do watch... it's really something a must see and you'll know they deserve their academy nod...

personally speaking, everything that contains an older brother-younger brother story fascinates me...htough Salim's been "rough" and "hard" to his younger brother Jamal, you could still see the enormous love and concern he has to his sibling. i kinda wish older brothers will also have that character of Salim..(chuckles...im the youngest of my two older brothers, Christian and Chris John..hehehe)

when i watch the movie first with my friend Noah, i still can picture the seemingly-not-so-interested when Jamal was tortured by what to appear are policemen or goons...but at the end of the film, i was so amazed by what i see on my friend's face whom doesn'y likes english or foreign movies so much...well i just thought he even loved it, how much more to me...(smiles)..

hhmmmm..the movie also shows that it doesn't take a genius to answer life's hard realities...Jamal for instance won his way to twenty million rupees..weeehhhh...it just proves, experience most oftenly is the best teacher...agree?

and who caould resist this cute child (little jamal) below? and i can't forget how people reacted on him when he jumped on feces..hahah (lol)

Po?hmmm passing by..

i've been busy these past few days...from commitments to studies to organizations to a heck of other stuffs..wheww...

but to keep me at pace of the whirlwind demands present around me, i always find time to relax if you could really call it as "relaxing" habit to cool down my nerves...

hmmmm...well, sort of revealing my favorite pastime 'ere. i just finished reading some books...pocketbooks actually whom are given to me by friend, drew...lolz after a day of different activities lying on my bed waiting for my sleeping time, i always got hooked on reading...too bad after hours of reading, my eyes started to ache and become teary..:( but still my mind dosen't seem to cooperate,..so i end up picking another set of reading materials - magz, romance books, read my unread text messages, etc., to wait for my sleeping time (the time i could really go to sleep). Finally, when clock strikes 4:45 am, at last i can close my eyes by then...

amazing but, is that really a "sleep" or somethin' that i still would wake up at around 9 am to attend school...thank God, major subjects aren't that demanding this finals period.

tomorrow, im gonna be reading NEW MOON by Stephenie Meyer, the sequel to Twilight...hmmmm thanks to a friend who lent me the book...she saves the night! :-)☻ awtzz gonna tell you later bout the book, huh..

hope i could reaLLY post here soonest..i missed blogging..

oh, it's finals na pala...good luck to my graduating buddies..break a leg on your thesis presentation! you can do it i know, huh, kring.jonas.che.marn.!hmmmp

and to my uzzap buddies, i'll be back chatting with you so so soon...i will recover from this..hehehe..only reading pacifies me to sleep at the moment..chuckles ^_^

you take care, the rugprince is still kickin' some ass!

A lovely Japanese OST of Bleach you'll love! Plus Katorpehan and the like this love month :-)

Hi there! I've just gotten back from Boston (the northernmost town in Davao Oriental). The travel took seven (7) hours of exhausting bumpy ride. Whew...Anyways, here is the second edition of the Feb-Ibig Series only here on the rugprince!♥♥♥

sunao na uta ga utaenai

I can't sing a song with honest lyrics

ka zaritsuketeshimau kara

because I always end up sugar coating the words

itsu kara konna ni raku ni jibun

when did someone as laid-back as me

mamoru koto wo oboeta no?

realize she had something worth protecting?

*

ikinai SKY CHORD

Don't leave me, SKY CHORD

mukashi nara atta no ni yeah yeah...

you would have stayed here back then, yeah yeah...

nakushita SKY CHORD

I've lost you, SKY CHORD

dare no sei demo naku jibun

it's not anyone's fault, but...

kitto otona ni naru koto nanka yori

I know there are things more important to me

taisetsu na mono ga aru no

than becoming an adult

kitto sore wo mitsukerannai mama

but I'll be growing up the whole time

otona ni natte yukun da

I'm trying to figure what they are.

zutto kono mama ja irenaitte

You say we can't stay like this forever?

wakatteru yo, aruki dase.

I know...so let's take that first step.

-♥-♥-♥-

I just happened to fell in love with that OST of the animated series, BLEACH...well kinda striking the first verse..uggghhh it stike to the heart (at least for me, so do you too?)

I can also remember the lyrics of the song Obvious by Westlife which goes like this...

"I've made it obvious
Done everything but sing it
(I've crushed on you so long, but on and on you get me wrong)
I'm not so good with words
And since you never notice
The way that we belong
I'll say it in a love song."

Ouch...whew (torpe din kasi ako huhu)

"Pasensya na kung hindi ako nagsasalita...Hindi ko kayang sabihin ang Aking nadarama" - torpedo by Eraserheads

Well, this second edition of my Feb-Ibig series is focused on the so-called "TORPE"
Torpe (n.): Filipino noun meaning (1) shy; (2) gutless; (3) wallflower; usu. referring to males. (credits to Lionel Zivan S. Valdellon)

Hmmmm...Is there really a substantial reason why a guy would choose to hide his feeling of love twards a girl? Others would disagree, but many would also say, bakit hindi (why not?).

On the contrary, is being a torpe a condition of being a coward and being a man without balls as they say?

Perhaps, yes...'Coz, as I also believe, there is no harm in trying...It's better to love and not loved back than to not experience love at all, di po ba?

On the hand, how could you blame who believe curiosity kills the cat. Patay din pati lovelife nya, ganun?

But, can we actually call that a lovelife when the girl doesn't even know the real score of the guy's feelings towards her..?

Com'on guys, let's show the other sex our native "tapang" of Andres Bonifacio. We are brave gor Chrissake. Let's wear our balls! lolz

So, are we ready now to ask her on a date this love month? Hope you'll enjoy a romantic Valentine's Day!

Are you geared up already for the LOVE Month Fever? :-)

Well, who is not concerned of having his or her Valentina/Valentino? Anyone?

Bluntly speaking, almost everyone of us, especially the youngsters or young adults are busy (if not worried) looking for our respective dates this love month most specially on the fourteenth!

From late January as Christmas Holidays and New Year Celebration ended, the next thing in line to think about is no other than the coming of the L.O.V.E M.O.N.T.H!

For sure as the main event of the second month of the year fast approaches, everyone's already wondering what could be the best gift we could give to our loved ones - gf's slash bf's slash crushes slash dates a.k.a honey, baby, darling, sugar, sweety pie, daddy/mommy, tart, whatever term of endearment you guys used to call your loved one!

Hmmmmm...Maybe your thinking that what you have already given last year's Valentine's Day should be doubled or tripled in your own "romance meter" so that this would be more worth cherishing for you both.

My tip on you guys, as we have still ample time to prepare for the Hearts' Day, well you better plan every detail of your romantic date with your honey! Remember, cramming is not good! Hmmmm...a romantic dinner may do, but there are sure more ways to surprise your darling honey pie! :-) Try to research of the new trend of celebrating Valentine's Day through the web!

But what about those brethren of ours who are prone to a "COLD Valentines?" Well, I think we gotta be working double time in search (if we really wanna have a date this Feb. 14). But for those who consider valentine's as a simple day of showing our extraordinary LOVE to everyone - I'm referring to family, friends, officemates, etc., well, we can always enjoy group dates with the people whom are also dear to us...

I am hoping and wishing everyone (including my self) that we will all have a memorable and LOVE-FILLED season of hearts!

Till here, and watch out for further Valentine tips and notes coming to the rugprince blogspot soon!

Ta ta!

I love you guys!

Ghost Town Move...The Unfinished Business on Earth

Only a life lived for others is worth living
- Albert Einstein

Plot

A misanthropic dentist, Bertram Pincus, (Ricky Gervais) gains the ability to communicate with ghosts after a near death experience in which he dies for approximately seven minutes during a colonoscopy and is then miraculously revived. Ghosts begin to pester him, particularly Frank Herlihy (Greg Kinnear) who wants him to break up the impending marriage of his widow Gwen (Téa Leoni). This proves rather hard, as Bertram has snubbed Gwen on many an occasion, including when he closes the elevator on her and gets her in trouble with the super. However, since he displays his dental expertise to her one day in the elevator, she recruits him to look at a mummy's teeth, and Pincus redeems himself in Gwen's eyes when he identifies the cause of the Pharaoh's death. She invites him to dinner along with her fiancée Richard (Billy Campbell), whom Frank says is after her money but seems to Pincus like a nice man, as he is a human rights lawyer. Pincus gets to know Gwen more and finds himself falling in love with her. He mystifies her when, out for drinks one day, he knows information about Frank, and Gwen reveals to them both that she had found out Frank had been cheating on her. Pincus ends up inadvertently breaking off her engagement to Richard, information he got out of Richard by drugging him with laughing gas. After that, Pincus vows never to interfere in her life again.

Frank doesn't understand why he is still on earth if he was supposed to break up Richard and Gwen. Gwen, not being engaged to Richard any longer, says yes to a proposal that would send her to the Valley of Kings for six months. As a going away present, Pincus gets her a new key chain, which she had before mentioned she desperately needed. But when he mistakenly reveals more information about Frank only Gwen knows, she demands the truth, and Pincus tells her the whole story with ghosts. Gwen doesn't believe him and demands to know what Frank's worst nightmare was. Frank tells Pincus a fake nightmare, and Gwen, thinking Pincus is toying with her, walks away. Frank tells Pincus he doesn't want Gwen to be with another selfish person.

Back at the office, Pincus asks a fellow dentist (Aasif Mandvi) for medication that will help him forget Gwen. Pincus decides that he will help the ghosts. He helps almost all of them, and finds out that one of the ghosts is an especially annoying patient's deceased husband.

While helping these ghosts, Pincus discovers that the reason why Frank can't leave is that Gwen hasn't let go of him. He rushes to the exhibition at the Met, only for Gwen to blow him off. She asks him to ask Frank why she wasn't enough for him, and Frank says he's sorry, which Pincus tells Gwen. Gwen is incredulous that after his infidelity, all Frank would have to say was 'sorry' and thinks that Pincus is making it all up. He rushes after her and while trying to persuade her to believe him, gets hit by a bus. Pincus, now a ghost, watches with Frank. Gwen is crying over Pincus, then Richard comes and tries to revive him. Seeing how distraught Gwen is, Frank gives him 'some advice' in case he is resuscitated. After talking to Pincus, Frank is then finally allowed to leave.

Pincus wakes up alive in the hospital. He recovers and goes back to work and meets Gwen, who needs dental work. Pincus tells Gwen the real nightmare, which was advice Frank told him, and then assures her 'he found his way home.' The movie ends with Gwen saying 'it hurts when I smile,' to which Pincus replies 'I can fix that for you.'

I just like the message underlying this movie...I finished it watching early last night when I almost closed the Windows Media Player and turn off the monitor screen when one of my best buddies Jonas told me that the movie was good and my other boardmates agreed that it has a a great sense...So I continued the flick though I find my self yawning at times (pagod din ako galing sa meeting ng Club Tikod)...

Then as the story progressed on, hmmmm I am kinda hooked to the movie so I gained the guts to finish it...

I was touched by the quotation by Einstein which states Only a life lived for others is worth living...It's just then I realized that this life of mine is somehow worth living as I don't live this life for my self alone but with my own little ways, I have shared this piece of my life to my students at KLRC and Club Tikod Computer Tutorials...

This message should make us more optimistic to live our life in a way that in the end of the day, we could say "the days is done" and we've nothing to regret on things we have failed to accomplish! Carpi diem everyone!

5...4...3...2...1...Hapi nEw Year!

Another year is at hand...

New new year's resoutions to live by???...hopefully

New struggles???..They're inevitable actually...

New successes and achievements???..A whole lot more is in store...That's for sure...

New experiences???This only means we'll be learning many things in this life...

Whatever things will come our way this year, Godwillingly I know, we will endure and survive these lamas sa kinabuhi (spices of life)...knowing the Global Financial Crisis at hand, but I am sure together, we will hurdle our way to lead a better and more wonderful life.

It's still too early to tell that we are better today than what we are yesterday but we always have the power to make ourselves twice or even tenfold times way better than the previous year.

Hope this year of the earth ox will bring us not only good things in our life but a more meaningful life for all of us...

HAPPY NEW YEAR beloved...
